Before and After Intense Pulsed Light treatments

Using Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), imperfections such as rosacea, superficial blood vessels, sun spots or age spots and other signs of aging can be gently eliminated, replaced by newer, younger looking skin.

IPL delivers high intensity pulses of broadband light that is different from the narrow band light of other lasers. IPL is non-ablative meaning that is does not damage the surface of the skin. The intense light is delivered to the deeper parts of the skin (dermis) and leaves the superficial aspect of the skin (epidermis) untouched. There are different versions of IPL available that target different structures in the skin such as vascular lesions (small spider veins) and vascular birthmarks, and pigmented lesions such as sun and age spots.

  • Each IPL treatment is gentle with minimal downtime (recovery).

  • Treatments take approximately 45 minutes depending on the area to be treated.

  • There is mild discomfort with IPL. If needed an anesthetic cream may be applied to the skin 20 minutes prior to treatment to numb the area.

  • A mineral makeup may be applied before leaving the office. Many clients elect to have treatment and return to work the same day.

  • A series of 2-4 sessions is usually required to achieve the desired result. Treatment sessions may be scheduled every 3-5 weeks. Some clients elect to have a “touch up” session every 6-12 months to maintain results.
